An Evening In France!

Saturday, January 25th, 7:00-11:00 PM

Creme de la Crepe is run by natives of the Brittany region of western France.  This evening, we’ll enjoy a three-course dinner of authentic French food.  We’ll begin with a buffet assortment of hors d’oeuvres such as blini and quiche lorraine.  We’ll take our seats for the entree course, and then be able to mingle again while enjoying a family-style assortment of dessert crepes such as crepe suzette with Grand Marnier. 

The evening will also be an opportunity to learn about the various wines of France.  We’ll have a wide variety of French wines available for tasting, including some from Burgundy, Bordeaux, Chablis, Cotes du Rhone and Champagne.  We’ll also have a couple California wines available to contrast how French and California wines from the same types of grapes vary from one another.  We’ll spend a little time learning about how French wines are categorized, and how to read French wine labels.  But mostly we’ll learn by tasting! 

We have the entire restaurant reserved for our private party this evening, and they can accommodate up to 35 of us.  The cost of the evening is only $35, including dinner, all the wine, tax, tip and private use of restaurant! 

I’m thinking we’ll stick to American music for the evening, unless anyone has an urge to offer up a karaoke version of Frère Jacques or Alouette! 

To sign up for the evening, please send a check payable to me for $35, to 432 11th St., #7, Hermosa Beach, CA  90254.  (First come, until it fills up.)  I'll send a confirmation to those of you whose e-mail addresses I have.  (Sorry, but if you decide to flake, your $35 will become a well-appreciated contribution to more wine for our group.)

Creme De La Crepe -- 424 Pier Ave. in Hermosa Beach (310-937-2822)

Take the 405 south to the 105 west. Exit at Sepulveda South, go about 4 1/2 miles and turn right at the light for Pier Ave.  It's less than a quarter mile down on the left. 

Or via surface streets, take Culver or Jefferson into Playa Del Rey. Make a left at the last light, heading south on Vista Del Mar. Take Vista Del Mar into Manhattan Beach. Vista Del Mar becomes Highland. Continue straight until it ends (at Longfellow). Turn left on Longfellow and go until it ends (at Valley Dr.)  Turn right on Valley, go one mile and turn right at the stop sign at Pier Ave.

From the south, take the 405 north and exit at Artesia. Head west about 3 miles to the light for Sepulveda (P.C.H.) Turn left and go 3/4 of a mile to the light for Pier, turn right and proceed as above.
