(Note:  This trip has filled up, so unfortunately,
we won't be able to take any more sign-ups.)

Please join us for a weekend of...

Camping at Hume Lake
in Sequoia National Forest

Friday, July 1 -- Monday, July 4

Hume Lake (in the photos below) is one of the prettiest lakes you can drive to in the Sierras.  We'll be camping nearby at a great group campsite, Logger Flat.  It's a large, shady campsite with Ten Mile Creek flowing through it.  Best of all, there are no other campsites for half a mile in any direction...no one to bother us, no one for us to bother!  The daytime temperatures should be in the 70s.  There are showers not too far away.

One of our hikes will be a leisurely three-mile stroll around Hume Lake, the kind of hike that would make you feel lazy if it wasn't so pretty.  We'll have a picnic lunch along the edge of the lake.  Our other hike will be through Redwood Mountain Grove, the world's largest grove of sequoias.  There will be ample time during the days to take out the rental kayaks and canoes which are available at the lake.

We'll do a sunset dinner picnic one evening at a rather special spot...private but with a spectacular view of Kings Canyon.  The other evenings we'll do dinners in camp, including champagne hors d'oeuvres on Sunday.

I'll give first priority to people staying through Monday morning (please let me know if you plan otherwise).  Kids beyond the crying in the night stage are always welcome.  (There are cabins by the showers if you have younger ones...call me if you need those details.)  As in the past, to avoid possible nuisances in the campsite, please make alternative plans for any pets...thanks!

The cost of this trip will be $60 per person, which will cover the campsite fee, our firewood and common supplies, and all of the wine and beer for the weekend.  I'll take sign-ups based on when I receive your check, and will close sign-ups when the trip fills up, and at the latest by Sat., June 18, in order to make the meal team assignments.

Each person will be asked to help provide one meal, and will be served by the group for the rest of the meals on the trip, Friday dinner through Monday breakfast, including lunches.  (Kids are included in paying the $60 but get to ride free on the meal assignments.)  To sign up, please send your check to me.  (As usual, this will be non-refundable if you find something better to do that weekend!)  Let me know if you have questions about the weekend.

I expect this is going to be a rather fun weekend,
and I hope you can join us!
