Please join us for this holiday weekend at Shaver Lake in the western Sierras. Shaver Lake is about two miles long. It's at 5,500 feet with a pretty mountain setting, surrounded by forest folliage. We'll spend one day on the lake...pontoon boat for a lunch picnic, and then options for kayaking, swimming, other boating, etc. The other day we'll do a pleasant hike in the area. Evenings will include dinners in our house along with whatever games, wine and such seem of interest. (If you've done any of our Mammoth spring skiing trips, the evenings will be similar.)

Our house will be near the lake, though not right on it. Breakfasts will be casual self-serve food I'll provide. Lunches and dinners will be communal, with folks helping with one meal and being served for the others. Feel free to invite friends along. Kids are welcome.

The cost of the trip will include the rental house and breakfasts Saturday through Monday. To try to be fair in terms of accommodations and pricing, we'll share the cost as follows...your choice of options. Sharing a private room with someone of your choice, possibly with a private bath, will be $195 per person. A run-of-house assignment will be $145. (Everyone will have beds, with no one stuck on a living room sofa.) A private room to yourself will be $295. No cost for kids sleeping in their parents' room (sharing the bed, on the floor, hung in the closet, etc.) Hopefully everyone will get their choice, so write your check in the amount of your preference.

In order to finalize payment for our house, I need to receive your check by Sat., Aug. 11. (Since payment for the house is non-refundable, yours will have to be as well.) Our rental house won't accommodate pets, so please make other plans for such. The drive is similar in length to Mammoth. Over Labor Day, we should have sunny weather there with highs in the upper 70s and lows in the 50s. Let me know if you have any questions about the trip.
